ABOUT

MISSION:
BRING MORE JOY AND FULFILLMENT TO CLASSROOMS & FAMILIES THROUGH SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING, GRATITUDE, & MINDFULNESS.

At The Fulfilled Classroom, we are passionate about creating an enriching and supportive learning environment that nurtures the holistic development of students. Our mission is to empower educators with effective tools and strategies to teach social-emotional learning, gratitude, and mindfulness, enabling them to create classrooms where every student can thrive.

OUR APPROACH:
Teaching Social-Emotional Learning:

We believe that social-emotional learning is an essential component of education. By focusing on the development of social and emotional skills, we equip students with the necessary tools to navigate challenges, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Our resources and guidance help educators integrate social-emotional learning seamlessly into their curriculum, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom community where students can develop empathy, self-awareness, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Cultivating Gratitude:

Gratitude is a powerful mindset that can transform lives. By teaching gratitude in the classroom, we inspire students to appreciate the little joys, acknowledge the efforts of others, and find contentment in the present moment. Our resources provide educators with practical activities and strategies to foster a culture of gratitude, allowing students to develop a positive outlook, cultivate empathy, and enhance their overall well-being.

Embracing Mindfulness:

In our fast-paced world, mindfulness offers a sanctuary of calm and self-awareness. By introducing mindfulness practices in the classroom, we equip students with essential tools to manage stress, improve focus, and enhance their overall mental and emotional well-being. We offer practical techniques and resources that help educators integrate mindfulness seamlessly into their teaching practice, creating a peaceful and mindful learning environment.

OUR COMMITMENT:

We are committed to providing high-quality, practical, and engaging resources, innovative ideas, and evidence-based practices to educators. Through our blog, workshops, books, and online resources, we strive to empower educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement social-emotional learning, gratitude, and mindfulness effectively. We believe that when teachers are equipped with the right tools, they have the power to make a lasting impact on the lives of their students.

Join us in creating The Fulfilled Classroom, where education goes beyond academics, nurturing the hearts and minds of students, and preparing them for a fulfilling and successful future. Together, let's create a classroom where students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Thank you for being part of our community!

ABOUT NICOLE THOMSON
MEd, OCT, HBComm

WIFE . MOM . TEACHER . AUTHOR . ENTREPRENEUR

I’m Nicole, an educator, author, and entrepreneur. I currently work as a college professor, but previous to that, I spent over a decade as an elementary teacher where I participated in action research projects in math and literacy and presented at International conferences, such as IMBES and ILA. I have also provided professional development sessions to teachers in areas of Social-Emotional Learning, Balanced Literacy, Math, and Classroom Management.

A few years ago, I relocated with my family, and therefore had to leave the classroom as I knew it. The pause from the busy classroom was a welcomed change, but that period of transition was also one of the most challenging periods of my life. During that time I began practicing gratitude; I believe it is what got me through that difficult period stronger and more inspired than ever. I was setting goals for myself and quickly checking things off my bucket list: get my Masters, become a college professor, write a book, run a half marathon, start a business, and work on being the best wife, mom, educator, and person I can be.

While I was reading "The Magic" by Rhonda Byrne, I was drawn to this excerpt: “If gratitude became a mandatory subject in schools, we would see a generation of children who would advance our civilization through spectacular accomplishments and discoveries, obliterating disagreements, ending wars, and bringing peace to the world.”

I wholeheartedly believe this as well. I have seen what a gratitude practice has done in my life and recognize the plethora of science and research backing this simple, yet essential, factor to a fulfilled life. Why aren't we teaching this in schools? And to our children, in general?

I created The Fulfilled Classroom Inc. to teach children the importance of appreciating the little things in life (I even wrote a children's book about this - check out the "books" section of the website!) and I have enthusiastically switched my focus from training teachers and students on balanced literacy, spatial reasoning and classroom management, to living with gratitude, mindfulness, and finding fulfillment both in and out of the classroom.

You can read more about my story where it was featured on the Secret App.
